Current meeting

Dear Friends,

We are delighted to announce the 46th meeting of the European Pancreatic Club (EPC), combined this year with the International Association of Pancreatology (IAP). It is a pleasure to invite you to this meeting, and I look forward to seeing many old friends, and to making new friends during our exciting four day programme.
The main programme runs for three full days, with sessions on all aspects of pancreatic science and pancreatic disease. In the basic sciences, we have invited speakers who can enlarge our perspective, bringing insights from related work in different fields. In clinical pancreatology, we have established a theme of excellence in evidence based practice. This will review the existing guidelines on the management of pancreatic diseases, prepared by several national Societies, and by the IAP, when we will try to reach agreed positions based on the published evidence base. Throughout the main programme, reports of these discussions will enable all delegates to get up to date on international best practice.
We have added two parallel sessions, on Wednesday 25 and Friday 27 June. There is a day of practical skills demonstrations with live links to endoscopic ultrasound, interventional radiology and laparoscopic pancreatic surgery, and one day organised by and for clinical nurse specialists, dieticians and nutrition specialists. We hope that this will encourage attendance by these professionals, who play an important role in the successful management of our patients. In addition, we have two symposium either side of the main programme the first being a high profile scientific symposium on Tuesday 24 June, Nutrition and the Pancreas. This will be a joint meeting with BAPEN Medical and the Institute of Human Nutrition in Southampton. On Saturday 28 June, we will have a clinical orientated symposium relating to Pancreatic Insuffiancies.
